3-Day Activity Driving a Horse and Carriage.

Suitable for beginners or those that would like to enhance their driving skills.

David Taylor joined the Horse Haven Uk team in 2018.  David is a qualified driving and riding instructor with a wealth of experience. He trained in the Army and will be your instructor for the 3 days.

Often people come along to our taster day, thoroughly enjoy it and decide they would like to go further so the 3-day activity enables them to take their driving skills to the next level.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

During the 3 days you will become proficient at tacking up the horse. Gain an understanding of all parts of the harness and what they do.   You will also be confident to put the horse safely to the carriage.

You will learn to check the harness and ensure it is in good, safe condition.  It’s important to learn the essentials for ensuring your carriage is roadworthy and meets all requirements and this is included in the 3 days.

Carrying a tool kit on your carriage for a road trip is sensible as things can go wrong and you will be shown basic requirements for a tool kit.

Driving begins on the safety of our track system, progressing to road work and culminating on day 3 with a road trip.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

 Warm layers, sensible footwear and a waterproof in case of inclement weather.

Lunch is provided each day.

A list of local accommodation will be sent if required. There are quite a few Air B & Bs in the area which are reasonably priced.

We limit the 3 days to a minimum of 2 people and maximum of 3 people.  Everyone will have plenty of opportunity to drive and gain confidence in all aspects of driving a horse and carriage.

This is a very informative, enjoyable 3 days of driving activities in pleasant rural surroundings.

A non-refundable deposit of £200 will reserve your place.

In the unlikely event that Horse Haven Uk have to cancel this event you will either be offered another date or your deposit will be returned.

The deposit can be paid via paypal or card by going to store clicking on workshops and selecting this event.
