Imbolc is a Celtic celebration mid-way between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.  The word Imbolc means “in the belly of the Mother”.  The Maiden Goddess Bridie touches the earth with her wand and Mother earth begins to awaken.  The dancing snowdrops can already be seen and the seeds beneath the soil are getting ready to sprout as are the buds on the trees.  Snowdrops symbolize new beginnings, hope, rebirth and the ability to overcome challenges.

Imbolc is celebrated February 1st to 2nd but 3^rd is the closest weekend date so together we will celebrate it then. Imbolc is a time for sowing seeds of intention for the year ahead, letting go of past issues and welcoming the coming of Spring and new life.

A time when the snowdrops show their lovely heads and the seeds of life are quickening beneath the ground. We can set goals for the coming year and sow seeds of intentions. It is traditional to make Bridie dolls at this time (Bridie being the Maiden Goddess of Spring), it’s very simple and all materials are provided. Each stitch represents a wish or a goal. We can also walk a labyrinth as a moving meditation, leaving behind that which is no longer useful and setting our intentions in the centre. We will light a fire to leave the old behind and honour the wonders that are coming our way. A great time to manifest.

Imbolc at Horse Haven Uk to welcome the coming of Spring and new life. The celebration will start at 11am and run till 4.00pm. We are on the Somerset Levels, about 5 miles from Glastonbury.  You will meet our lovely herd of therapy horses and 2 special donkeys who are sure to offer you a big welcome.

What Happens On The Day

Starting with a short meditation and some exercises to let go of unwanted behaviour patterns.  Time now to set some goals and positive intentions for the year ahead.  Everyone will make their own little Bridie doll to fix their intentions.

Time to walk a small labyrinth as a moving meditation. Contemplating goals as we walk and manifesting them at the centre.

We will all plant some seeds in pots to take away and remember the goals for the year.

As it is a fire festival in the wheel of the year, we will have a firepit.

Join us for a lovely day to welcome the light and new life.

It will take place in our workshop where we have a cosy log burner.  Some time will be spent outdoors.

I will provide hot soup and materials for making the Bridie dolls.

We are asking for a donation of £50 for Horse Haven Uk.
